Cornwall - Mar. 23, 2011 - Members of the Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry Provincial Liberal Association will be paying tribute to retiring MPP Jim Brownell next month.

The riding association is organizing a tribute dinner for Brownell on April 30 at the Best Western Parkway Inn.

Riding association officials said Brownell has been a strong advocate on a number of issues, including the redevelopment of the Cornwall and Winchester hospitals and the St. Joseph's Continuing Care Centre, the creation of the Eastern Ontario Economic Development Fund, and the promotion of local tourism and history.

"Over the past seven plus years, Jim has truly put Stormont, Dundas and South Glengarry on the map," said riding association president Dianne Poirier.

"His legacy can be seen in every corner of our riding; his tireless advocacy for his constituents will continue to resonate at Queen's Park for a long time to come. We are pleased to have an opportunity to celebrate a great man who has done so much for our communities."

The tribute will include a slide show spanning Brownell's career, along with entertainment by The Brigadoons and Quiet Moments.
