Cornwall Police Blotter October 12
The following is an official media release from the Cornwall Community Police Service:It is alleged that in the early morning of 9th October 2011, the male attended a friend's residence, located the keys to a 1997 Pontiac and left with the vehicle.

Cornwall - Oct. 12, 2011 - The following is an official media release from the Cornwall Community Police Service:

BREACHES
Cornwall, ON- Andrew Berry, 24 of Cornwall was arrested on the 11th of October 2011. He was bound by the provisions of a probation order with the condition to report to probation as directed. It is alleged that between the 29th of August and the 27 of September 2011 he failed to report and a warrant for his arrest was issued. On the 11th of October the male was arrested by police on the strength of that warrant. He was released to appear in court on the 25th of October 2011.

Cornwall, ON- James MacFarlane, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on the 11th of October 2011. He was bound by the provisions of 2 separate probation orders, both with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 10th of October 2011 he attended a friend's residence and removed a lap top computer. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. On the 11th of October 2011 he was charged with 2 counts of breach of probation and theft under $5000.00. He was released to appear in court on the 25 of October 2011.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON- A 27 year old Cornwall female was arrested on the 11th of October 2011. It is alleged that on the 11th of October 2011 she entered into an altercation with her 34 year-old common law spouse and assaulted him. The male suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault. Police were contacted and an investigation followed resulting in the female being charged with assault. She was held in custody to appear in court on the 12th of October, 2011. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the incident.

BREACHES
Cornwall, ON- A 52 year old Cornwall man was arrested on the 7th of October 2011. The male was bound by the provisions of a probation order with relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and not to associate, contact or hold any communication directly or indirectly with a certain person. It is alleged that on the 24th of September 2011 the male breached his probation order and had contact with the person he is not to have contact with. An investigation ensued and the male was subsequently charged with 2 counts of breach of probation. The male was released to attend court on the 25th of October 2011. His name is not being released as it would identify the victim in this matter.

Cornwall, ON- Sylvain Matte, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on the 7th of October 2011. The male was bound by the provisions of 2 separate undertakings both with conditions to abstain from possession/consumption of alcohol and keep peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on the 7th of October 2011 police attended the 900 block of Queen street as a result of a 9-1-1 call. The male was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and as a result was charged with 4 counts of breach of undertaking. A further police investigation followed and the male was subsequently charged with 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance and 3 counts of trafficking in a controlled substance. Over 200 pills believed to be Oxicodone were seized with a street value of approximately $1150.00. Over 60 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana was seized with a street value of approximately $600.00. Over 10 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine was seized with a street value of approximately $840.00. The male was held in custody to await a bail hearing the next day.

Cornwall, ON- Georgiou Varnava, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on the 8th of October 2011. He was bound by the provisions of a probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, and to abstain from the purchase/possession/consumption of alcohol. On the 8th of October 2011 police attended a second street business where it is alleged the male was observed by police to be under the influence of alcohol. As a result the male was charged with 2 counts of breach of probation. The male was released to attend court on the 25th of October 2011.

Cornwall, On- A 16 year old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 8th of October 2011. The youth was bound by the provisions of a youth probation order with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and not to have any contact directly or indirectly with the victim. The youth was also bound by the provisions of recognizance with the relevant condition not to associate, communicate directly or indirectly with a named individual. It is alleged that on the 8th of October 2011 the youth was observed with the named person and was subsequently charged with 2 counts of breach youth probation and 1 count of breach of recognizance. The youth was held in custody to await a bail hearing the next day. The youth's name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, On- A 14 year old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 8th of October 2011. The youth was bound by the provisions of an undertaking with the relevant conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, abide by house rules as set by your parents and attend school without truancy. It is alleged that on the 8th of October 2011 police attended the residence of the young person as the youth was breaching all of the conditions imposed. As a result the youth was charged with 3 counts of breach of undertaking. The youth was held in custody until a bail hearing the next day. The youth's name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON- John Laffin, 48 of Cornwall was arrested on the 11th of October 2011. The male was bound by the provisions of an undertaking with the condition to abide by curfew from 12am until 4am. He was further bound by the provisions of a second undertaking with the condition to keep the peace and be of good bahaviour. The male was further bound by 2 separate probation orders, both with the condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 11th of October 2011 at 1230 A.M. he breached the above conditions and was arrested for 2 counts breach of undertaking and 1 count of breach of probation. He was held in custody until a bail hearing later that day.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Cornwall, ON- A 29 year old Cornwall male was arrested on the 11th of October 2011. It is alleged that on the 11th of October 2011 he got into a altercation with his 31 year old common law spouse when he assaulted her. The victim did not suffer any injuries. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged and held for court later that day. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in this incident.

THEFT UNDER $5000
Cornwall, ON- Brian McNicholl, 52 of Cornwall was arrested on the 8th of October, 2011 following a shoplifting incident. It is alleged that he attended a local department store selected several items and then left with the merchandise. He was stopped by store security and police were contacted. As a result he is facing 1 count of Theft Under $5,000.00. He was released to appear in court on the 06th of December, 2011 to answer to the charges.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE
Cornwall, ON- Travis Moore, 19 of Cornwall was arrested on the 9th of October 2011. It is alleged that in the early morning of 9th October 2011, the male attended a friend's residence, located the keys to a 1997 Pontiac and left with the vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. The male was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and released to attend court on the 25th of October 2011.

BREAK AND ENTER
Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a residential break and enter which occurred on the 9th of October in the 300 block of Emma Street. The suspect(s) gained entry by a basement window. It's unknown what property was removed at this time and the investigation into the incident continues.

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is investigating a residential break and enter which occurred on the 9th of October in the 300 block of Belmont Street. The suspect(s) gained entry by prying open the front door and proceeded to remove a Dewalt 18 volt drill and impact set and a Dewalt skill saw both in carrying cases, a Mastercraft table saw, mitre saw and a jig saw. WARRANTS
Cornwall, ON- A 17 year old male was arrested on the 11th of October 2011 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on the 29th of September 2011 he failed to attend court and a bench warrant was issued. He was held in court until court later that day. The youth's name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
