Cornwall - Sep. 16, 2011 - Today, Guy Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry and his staff, participated in Jersey Day in Canada by wearing jerseys of various sports teams in SD & SG.
“My staff and I had a great time today showing our love and support for sport by wearing a jersey on Jersey Day,” said Lauzon, “communities across the country are hosting events today to celebrate Jersey Day and tomorrow to celebrate Sports Day in Canada.”
Celebrations will continue into September 17th as Canadians celebrate Sports Day in Canada. Sports Day in Canada is presented by ParticipACTION, CBC Sports, and True Sport, and is guided by a committee of national sporting organizations and their networks of coaches, athletes and enthusiast across the country.
“Sports Day is a national celebration of sport, from grassroots to high-performance levels, in communities across the country,” said Lauzon, “it is an opportunity for all Canadians to celebrate the power of sport to build community, fortify our national spirit and facilitate healthy, active living.”
