Cornwall - Feb. 4, 2011 - The local Progressive Conservative Party has set a date for its 2011 Nomination Meeting. The meeting will be held on Saturday April 9, 2011 and the purpose is to select the PC Candidate for the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry for the upcoming Provincial Election.

The meeting will be held at Tagwi Secondary School in Avonmore to accommodate the volume of members expected to participate. To be eligible to vote at this Nomination Meeting, residents must be a member of the Ontario PC Party before March 8, 2011 at noon.

"There is a lot of interest in the Progressive Conservative Party this election - people are definitely looking for change and want to send a message to Queen's Park," said Nomination Chair Eric Duncan. "Our riding association has never been in better pre-election shape - financially and volunteer wise."

Duncan tells OurHometown.ca that currently there are two registered candidates, North Dundas businessman David Guy and South Glengarry Mayor Jim McDonell.

Ontarians go to the polls on Thursday October 6, 2011. The Liberal Nomination is now wide open with the recent announcement that current MPP Jim Brownell will not be seeking re-election. Earlier this year, former Cornwall Councillor Mark MacDonald announced his intention to seek the Liberal Nomination.
