Morrisburg - Feb. 28, 2011 - A travelling career fair showcasing careers and opportunities in health care, techonology and skilled trades will be making a stop in Morrisburg.

The Trade Roots career fair will be taking over the Operating Engineers Training Institute of Ontario (OETIO) facility on County Road 2 in Morrisburg on March 10.

The Morrisburg event is one of six eastern Ontario stops for the career fair, which will also touch down in the communities of Casselman, Smiths Falls, Kingston, Kemptville and Tyendinaga throughout the month of March.

Trade Roots brings together local industries, businesses, educators, and employment services organizations to provide information about career and apprenticeship opportunities, and offer hands-on demonstrations of the skilled trades and other professions.

"More than 30 exhibitors will be at each event," said Charlie Mignault, director of business development, corporate learning and performance improvement for St. Lawrence College.

"The fairs will allow attendees to talk to working professionals, educators, and really get a taste for a particular career path that interests them. This is an exciting project, and we're glad to be able to help connect people to meaningful employment and further education."

The Trade Roots program is funded in part by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy and hosted by St. Lawrence College.
