Cornwall - Apr. 1, 2011 - You should brace for some slowdowns if you're heading downtown on Saturday.

Demolition work is slated to begin bright and early on the former Truffles Burger Bar building which was destroyed by fire in December.

Given the size of the building and its proximity to the intersection of Pitt and Second streets, some detours will be put in place for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

According to a demolition notice from Demo Plus, Pitt Street will be reduced by one traffic lane south of Second Street, while the eastbound lanes of Second Street (between Pitt and Sydney streets) will be closed to traffic. The westbound lanes on Second Street will remain open. Also, there will be no left turns onto Second Street from Pitt Street.

As for pedestrian traffic, the sidewalks in immediate vicinity of the building will be off-limits during the demolition work.

As for the future of Truffles, the owners are planning to reopen the business at 155 Pitt Street.
