Cornwall - Apr. 27, 2011 - Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak will be visiting the city of Cornwall today.

With the next provincial election less than six months away, Hudak will meet with the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce to discuss the principles and values that will guide a PC Government. This meeting will be held at the Best Western Parkway Inn at 3:00 pm.

Following the meeting with the Chamber, it is expected that Hudak will do some door-to-door federal campaigning with Conservative incumbent MP Guy Lauzon.

Canadians go to the polls on Monday May 2, 2011. In the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, Conservative incumbent Lauzon will seek a fourth term. He will be challenged by Cornwall City Councillor Bernadette Clement, who will run for the Liberals and the NDP will be lead by community activist Mario Leclerc. The Green Party has selected Cornwall business person Wyatt Walsh as its candidate. James Neal Donnelly has recently joined the race as the Libertarian candidate.

Ontarians go to the polls on Thursday October 6, 2011. South Glengarry Mayor Jim McDonell has won the PC Nomination.

The Liberal Nomination is now wide open with the recent announcement that current MPP Jim Brownell will not be seeking re-election. To date, former Cornwall Councillor Mark MacDonald, retired St. Lawrence Collage Director Pat Finucan and community activist Denis Sabourin have announced their intention to seek the Liberal Nomination. At this point, there are no announced candidates for the other parties.
