City establishes temporary pick-up points for Ontario Works cheques
In response to the threat of a potential postal strike, the City of Cornwall has established alternate plans for the delivery of Ontario Works cheques to local clients for the month of June.

Cornwall - May. 31, 2011 - In response to the threat of a potential postal strike, the City of Cornwall has established alternate plans for the delivery of Ontario Works cheques to local clients for the month of June.

Ontario Works cheques for June will not be mailed out. Residents who are expecting a cheque should pick it up at the Bob Turner Memorial Centre (504 Fourth Street East) on Wednesday, June 1 or Thursday, June 2 between the hours of 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm.

For Ontario Works clients of the Chesterville office, cheques can be picked up at the Chesterville office (17B Industrial Drive) on Wednesday, June 1 from 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm. Ontario Works clients of the Alexandria office should pick up their cheques at the Alexandria office (Speedy Transport Building, 3525 Hwy 34 South) on Wednesday, June 1 between the hours of 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm.

Ontario Works clients who receive their payments through direct deposit won’t be affected. Those wishing to pick up their direct bank deposit statements can do so at the same times and locations listed above.

Ontario Works clients who are unable to collect their cheque during the times listed above can stop by the Social Support Services office (340 Pitt Street) on Friday, June 3 during regular business hours.

Appropriate identification is needed in order to pick up a cheque. The types of acceptable identification include birth certificates, driver's licenses, health cards or passports.
