Lift-Off Volunteer Appreciation Dinner set for June 8th
The Board of Directors of Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off will be hosting theire fifth annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday June 8th at the Cornwall Curling Centre. Once again this year, the Board will recognize a number of volunteers with the “Irma Savard Memorial Above and Beyond” Award - the festival's most prestigious volunteer award.

Cornwall - May. 31, 2011 - The Board of Directors of Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off will be hosting theire fifth annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Wednesday June 8th at the Cornwall Curling Centre. The dinner will be held to honour all of the dedicated volunteers from Lift-Off’s 2010 festival. The event is open to past and future volunteers

Once again this year, the Board will recognize a number of volunteers with the “Irma Savard Memorial Above and Beyond” Award - the festival's most prestigious volunteer award.

“The Festival Board feels it is important to recognize the hard work, and the hundreds of hours, that our volunteers give to Lift-Off” stated Kim Joncas, Director of Volunteers. “The Volunteer Dinner has become an important annual Lift-Off tradition.”

The doors for this event will open at 5:00 pm and the festivities will include a BBQ dinner sponsored by Benson, followed with cake for dessert. Dinner is free for volunteers from Lift-Off 2010 and is only $5 for anyone else who wishes to attend.

“Lift-Off would not be the success it is without the dedication of all of our volunteers. The Volunteer Night is our way of saying thank you!” added Joncas.

Cornwall Lift-Off was founded in 1994 and has since hosted back-to-back Canadian National Hot Air Balloon Championships in 1996 and 1997. The success of the festival has grown considerably from its modest beginnings in 1994. The 2011 festival welcomes 25 hot air balloon teams, the Homenuik Carnival, a new Family Zone, and great musical entertainment. This year's festival takes place July 14 - 17th.
