OPP issue statement about drowning near Athens
The Leeds County detachment of the OPP are investigating a swimming accident that occurred on the 18th of June at approximately 6:45 p.m. Three young males were swimming in Charleston Lake, near Athens Ontario when one of the males failed to surface after jumping off a rock cliff.

Athens - Jun. 19, 2011 - The following is an official media release and/or announcement from the Ontario Provincial Police:

The Leeds County detachment of the OPP are investigating a swimming accident that occurred on the 18th of June at approximately 6:45 p.m.. Three young males were swimming in Charleston Lake, near Athens Ontario when one of the males failed to surface after jumping off a rock cliff. Emergency services attended the scene as well as an OPP marine unit with no success of locating the young male. The OPPs Underwater Search and Recovery Unit have been called to further the investigation.
