Alexandria - Jun. 24, 2011 - Who says getting a ticket from the cops is a bad thing?

The “Wear it to Win” safety initiative is back and it’s bigger and better! SD&G OPP has once again teamed up with the Alexandria Dairy Queen and Alexandria Home Hardware Building Centre to promote the importance of wearing a safety helmet this summer by providing a reward incentive to Glengarry youths who play safe and always wear a safety helmet. The program is proud to welcome Raage Skateshop as a new partner to promote skateboard safety and the importance of wearing head gear there as well.

Safe cyclists and skateboarders will be approached by SD&G OPP officers on patrol and issued a ticket for making good choices. The tickets issued will act as a reward and are redeemable for a Dairy Queen ice cream treat (Alexandria location only) and also serves as a ballot for a chance to win a new bicycle (donated by Alexandria Home Hardware) and a fully equipped skateboard (donated by Raage Skateshop), which will be drawn in early September.

Pat Ravary, Manager at Alexandria Dairy Queen, Ron Aubin, owner of Alexandria Home Hardware Building Centre and Alain Lauzon, owner of Raage Skateshop, expressed the importance of educating and rewarding our youth for their role in safety and are proud to be supporters of this initiative.

The campaign runs throughout the summer months, ending on the 31st of August 2010.
