Cornwall - Aug. 5, 2011 - Mark A. MacDonald, Liberal Candidate for Stormont - Dundas - South Glengarry, announced today his plans to assist the members of the 17th Cornwall Pathfinders and Rangers in realizing their dream of travelling to England in July 2013.

While in England the girls and their leaders, plan on staying at the World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts World Centre, know as Pax Lodge. In London they will also visit their sister group of United Kingdom Girl Guides.

The group of nine girls, aged 12-16 years old and the three leaders, are looking at an overall cost of $36,000.00. Spaghetti suppers, bake sales, car washes, Girl Guide cookie sales and bottle drives are a few of the fund raising events that have been held so far.

“We will be opening our office as a bottle collection depot for this worth while cause”, stated MacDonald, “this trip will be a an event that will shape the future for these girls and I want to make sure our Campaign Team does everything we can to help them on their way”, MacDonald went on to say.

Mark has been well known for his efforts in helping young people and always makes an effort to engage the youth. In 1991 MacDonald received the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship which recognized his efforts on the Cornwall & District Snowsuit Fund, the Children’s Aid Society and the local Muscular Dystrophy Association, just to name a few.

“Our Citizens of Tomorrow (OCOT) is an organization I heard a lot of growing up, and when I look at these girls, that phrase comes to mind, and the Mark A. MacDonald Campaign Team is making a commitment today that, one way or another, we will make sure that we will help the girls to accomplish their goal.
