I am saddened by Jack Layton's death. He has been an exceptional leader who fought with hope and optimism to make life better for all Canadians. He has made a tremendous contribution to the NDP and to Canada. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Olivia and Jack's family.

Cornwall - Aug. 22, 2011 - I am saddened by Jack Layton's death. He has been an exceptional leader who fought with hope and optimism to make life better for all Canadians. He has made a tremendous contribution to the NDP and to Canada. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Olivia and Jack's family.

Jack Layton has been an inspiration to all of us. In fact, he was one of the reasons that I joined the NDP in 2004.

Jack Layton leaves a strong NDP team serving as the official opposition in the House of Commons who are determined to carry on his work to build a better Canada where no one is left behind. We are all inspired by his optimism, courage, and determination to make Parliament work for all Canadians and to improve the lives of everyday people. He leaves a great legacy for us to build on.

Brian Lynch,
President, Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Federal NDP riding association
