Cornwall - Sep. 9, 2011 - The Liberal Plan is seeing $20 billion of new clean energy investments coming to Ontario, creating 50,000 jobs. But Tim Hudak’s PCs and Andrea Horwath’s NDP want to take Ontario off-track. They want Ontario to miss out on a growing economy that the United Nations reports will reach $240B of investment worldwide in 2011.

Today, Liberal Candidate Mark A. MacDonald condemned PC Candidate Jim McDonell for supporting the PC party’s reckless plan to kill high-paying local jobs in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry.

Ontario has attracted over $20 billion of private investment in the energy sector since 2010 - investments that have already created 20,000 jobs and are on track to create 50,000 jobs by the end of 2012 - making Ontario a global clean energy powerhouse.

“Right here in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry, there are 55 clean energy projects that have been brought forward by local farmers and entrepreneurs as a result of the Liberal clean energy plan,” said Mark A. MacDonald. “These projects are creating jobs across Ontario, which we need to protect and build on, instead of destroying.”

Tim Hudak’s PC party has promised to kill groundbreaking clean energy programs, despite international recognition that Ontario is creating the kind of climate businesses want to invest in. Hudak’s scheme would kill the emerging clean energy industry in Ontario and 50,000 jobs.

“We are seeing the successful results of the Liberal clean energy plan right here in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry,” said Mark A. MacDonald. “People in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry are looking for leadership when it comes to the clean energy economy - and the more they see of Jim McDonell, the more they realize that the PCs just are not worth the risk.”
