Jason Setnyk endorses NDP Candidate Elaine MacDonald
At the advance polls I voted for hope, optimism, and love. I voted for Elaine MacDonald, the Ontario New Democratic Party candidate of SDSG, to be our Member of Provincial Parliament as of Thursday October 6th 2011. I know that Elaine MacDonald is the best provincial candidate we have, and that is why I am supporting her.

Cornwall - Oct. 3, 2011 - At the advance polls I voted for hope, optimism, and love. I voted for Elaine MacDonald, the Ontario New Democratic Party candidate of SDSG, to be our Member of Provincial Parliament as of Thursday October 6th 2011.

First I would like to congratulate Elaine who was recently endorsed by the Ottawa Citizen for her clarity and understanding of local issues, and endorsed by the Cornwall Firefighters for her commitment to public safety. Elaine's work experience, volunteer experience, political experience, and the fact that she is an excellent public speaker, all make her the ideal candidate. Elaine MacDonald has been elected to Cornwall City Council twice, she is a team player, and she has a commanding understanding of local issues. She has also been the strongest candidate at the debates. Elaine's campaign has been continuously building momentum, and I know that she will do very well.

Education is a key provincial responsibility, and Elaine MacDonald's experience both as a university graduate at Ottawa U and Western, and her decades of experience as a high school teacher give her insights in to the Ontario education system that will be helpful at Queens Park. Andrea Horwath and the Ontario NDP are committed to freezing tuition fees. This is a good start! Ontario has the highest tuition fees in Canada. The plan will also eliminate the interest on the provincial portion of student loans.

Healthcare is another key provincial responsibility, and Elaine MacDonald's experience as co-chair of the local chapter of the Ontario Health Coalition and being on the Committee of Management at the long-term care facility GlenStorDun Lodge gives her insight in to the Ontario healthcare system. Andrea Horwath and the Ontario NDP are committed to cutting emergency room wait times in half, meeting the health needs of an aging population, ensuring everyone has a family doctor, and that dollars are being invested in front line care.

I also like the NDP's commitment to take the HST off of hydro, to stabilize gas prices at the pumps, to reward job creators with a tax credit, create a more green economy, and to make life more affordable in Ontario. We have three excellent candidates, all of whom are retired and have municipal experience. However for all the reasons I stated above, I know that Elaine MacDonald is the best provincial candidate we have, and that is why I am supporting her.

On October 6th please vote, and please consider a vote for Elaine MacDonald and the NDP, she would make an excellent addition to Queen's Park!

Thank you.
Jason Setnyk
