Ontario voting delayed in four ridings, including SDSG
This morning, election day voting began at more than 24,000 polls located in more than 7,700 voting locations in 107 electoral districts across Ontario. The following polls will have extended voting hours: Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry,Toronto Centre, Trinity Spadina and Kenora – Rainy River.
Toronto - Oct. 6, 2011 - This morning, election day voting began at more than 24,000 polls located in more than 7,700 voting locations in 107 electoral districts across Ontario. More than 70,000 election officials have been on-site at these locations helping qualified electors cast their ballots.
Voting will continue until 9 p.m. (ET) or 8 p.m. (CT) across the province.
Elections Ontario endeavors to have all polls open on time. In some instances, there are unavoidable delays or interruptions that may occur. Accordingly, the Chief Electoral Officer of Ontario has the power under Section 40 (4) of the Election Act to extend voting hours where there have been delays.
The following polls will have extended voting hours:
Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry - Poll 087 and 093 - Polls will close at 9:30 p.m. (ET)
Toronto Centre - Poll 29, Poll 134, and Poll 416 A - Polls will close at 9:30 p.m. (ET)
Trinity Spadina - Poll 432 - Poll will close at 9:30 p.m. (ET)
Kenora - Rainy River - Poll 184 - Poll will close at 8:30 p.m. (CT)
Media should be advised that results for the electoral districts of: Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry; Toronto Centre; Trinity Spadina; and Kenora - Rainy River will not be released until after all the polls have closed in these electoral districts.
