Cornwall - Oct. 12, 2011 - Cranes now dot the skyline in the Cornwall Business Park as construction continues on two major developments. In all, over 300 acres are currently under development, and dozens of dump trucks, bull dozers and earth moving equipment are active in the area on any given day.

Work has begun on the construction of the new distribution centre for Target. Site grading is continuing and several hundred metres of concrete have been poured for footings and foundations. The general contractor is Broccolini, and they began erecting steel in late September. Once completed, the Target distribution centre will measure 1.3 million square feet, making it one of the largest buildings in Eastern Ontario.

Work on the 121 acre Boundary Properties site is also progressing very well. The general contractor, Carwell continues its site grading and will follow that up this fall with site servicing, which has been subcontracted to Cornwall Gravel. A substantial portion of the building construction for this project will occur and be completed in 2012.

Finally, work on the western extension of Industrial Park Drive is scheduled to be completed by November 2011. The new road will terminate at Tenth Street, providing easy access to the Business Park from McConnell Avenue. New traffic signalization at the intersection of McConnell and Tenth will be activated by mid October. The road construction was funded in part by the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.
