Cornwall Fire Service responds to small fire on Ellen Avenue

At 09:35 December 2, 2011, a call was received by the 911 operator advising of a structure fire. The Cornwall Fire Services Department responded with Four (4) vehicles and Thirteen (13) fire fighters from both fire stations. After ensuring that the fire was indeed extinguished, suppression activities were terminated.

The Response
The Fire Services Department responded with Four (4) vehicles and Thirteen (13) fire fighters from both fire stations.

The Summary
There was no one home at the time of the incident. Someone stopping by the house noticed smoke coming from the back of the house. He found a small fire on the exterior of the building at the rear patio door. He applied water with a garden hose that was nearby, and then called 911. Upon arrival fire crews deployed hose line, and started to pull away siding to verify that the fire had not advanced into the structure. After ensuring that the fire was indeed extinguished, suppression activities were terminated.

Fire prevention branch was called in for fire cause determination.
