United Way of SDG only $12,000 away from goal, Jim Rioux wins Celebration Sleigh
The 2011 United Way Campaign is winding down and today organizers were celebrating at Cornwall Square. Organizers drew the tickets to determine the lucky winners for the Dream Vacation, Santa’s Bag of Cash, and Celebration Sleigh. Jim Rioux, was the lucky winner of the Celebration Sleigh.

Cornwall - December 16, 2011 - The 2011 United Way Campaign is winding down and today organizers were celebrating at Cornwall Square. Organizers drew the tickets to determine the lucky winners for the Dream Vacation, Santa’s Bag of Cash, and Celebration Sleigh. Jim Rioux, was the lucky winner of the Celebration Sleigh.

Tickets went on sale November 12 at Cornwall Square. Tickets were $3.00 each or 5 tickets for $10.00. Santa’s Sleigh was filled with donated goodies from the community and was on display for the month at the mall.

United Way President Dave McDonald and Campaign Chair Peggy Haramis were on hand for the event. The pair of organizers told the gathered crowd that this year’s campaign is very close to meeting its goal of $670.000. Currently the campaign is just $12,000 shy of their target.

The United Way is hopeful that with a final push this afternoon, that they will be able to go over the top and successfully close this year’s campaign!

The United Way of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry is governed by a local Board of Directors who, with other volunteers and staff, help to build caring communities and respond to a broad range of human needs. It provides direct financial support to 16 funded agencies.
