McDonell encourages residents to lend a helping hand over the holidays
Tough economic times always bring out the best Ontarians, and this Holiday season offers us the chance to prove it again, Jim McDonell, MPP, said today. No question, our province is going through a rough patch right now, and we’ve all had to tighten our belts, with some 580,000 Ontarians out of work.

Cornwall - December 23, 2011 - Tough economic times always bring out the best Ontarians, and this Holiday season offers us the chance to prove it again, Jim McDonell, MPP, said today.

“No question, our province is going through a rough patch right now, and we’ve all had to tighten our belts, with some 580,000 Ontarians out of work,” said McDonell. “But there are other ways to give all year long that cost nothing but a little time and goodwill.

“So here’s a reminder to everyone in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry to find time this Christmas season to give something back to your community. It might be pitching in on a food drive. You could lend a hand in charitable activities at your place of worship. Maybe find unwanted items around the house to donate for use by someone less fortunate.

“Whatever we do during this busy time of year, we can always find time for others.”

For his part, Jim said he would be participating in community Christmas dinner in Lancaster.

“I ask you to join me in the same spirit, in activities that directly benefit others over the Holidays. We’ll get through these tough times if we pull together as neighbours, friends and Ontarians,” Jim McDonell said.
