Canada's men's U-20 team to participate in Marbella Cup

Canada's men's U-20 team will participate in the four team Marbella Cup during a ten day camp in Spain from October 7-16, 2012. Canada will face USA, Azerbaijan and Scotland during the mini-tournament. The Canadian camp will be based at the Marbella Center in Spain.

Edmonton - October 2, 2012 - Canada's men's U-20 team will participate in the four team Marbella Cup during a ten day camp in Spain from October 7-16, 2012. Canada will face USA on October 10th, Azerbaijan on October 12th and Scotland on the 15th. The Canadian camp will be based at the Marbella Football Center in Marbella, Spain.

For this project, Canadian U-20 coach Nick Dasovic has selected 20 players. This marks coach Dasovic's third 2012 project for 1993 born players, with an eye towards next year's biennial CONCACAF & FIFA competitions. Canada will compete in the 2013 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship from February 18th to March 3rd in Mexico. Four teams from the 12-team tournament will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013.

Canada's team features goalkeepers Ricky Gomes and Quillan Roberts, defenders Doneil Henry, Manjrekar James, Nikola Paunic, Jon Dollery, Marco Lapenna, Allan Zebie, and midfielders/forwards Bryce Alderson, Keven Aleman, Caleb Clarke, Dylan Carreiro, Mauro Eustáquio, Ben Fisk, Jonathan Lao, Kevin Luarca, Michael Petrasso, Samuel Piette, Alessandro Riggi, and Stefan Vukovic.

The Canadian squad features players from all four professional teams in Canada plus clubs from five European nations. In fact, eight of the 20 players play for either Vancouver Whitecaps FC (Residency), FC Edmonton (Reserves), Toronto FC (Academy) or Impact Montréal (Académie) in Canada. Other players have been called in from clubs in England, Germany, Hungary, Portugal and Spain.
