Nov. 30, 2013: The New York Islanders were the first of seven teams to reveal their 2014 NHL Stadium Series sweater. Surprisingly, they didn’t disappoint most jersey enthusiasts. When rumours started swirling that Reebok would be using “modern” designs for the Stadium Series sweaters, people expected something bad. When Reebok tries to go “modern”, bad things happen. Oct. 28, 2013: When your new jersey leaks before its intended release date the team has two options. The first is to acknowledge the leak and put together an impromptu “official unveiling”. The other option is to do what the Calgary Flames did, which is to stick your head in the sand and pretend that the world has not seen the new design. FULL STORY
Oct. 14, 2013: This season the Anaheim Ducks are celebrating 20 years in existence. This would have been their 20th season if not for the 2004-05 locked out year. Many events and promotions are scheduled for the season, however the main event of the year (at least for a jersey nerd like myself) was held on Sunday. FULL STORY
Oct. 8, 2013: Although the image of a stoic Jonathan Toews wearing a red Canada sweater has been circling around the internet for several weeks now, that didn’t stop Hockey Canada and Nike from “officially” unveiling the country’s 2014 Olympic hockey jerseys. In my opinion this jersey looks nothing like the Hockey Canada brand and very much like the HBC branded Canadian Olympic clothing line that appears across the country in The Bay stores. FULL STORY
Sep. 22, 2013: The WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings used their home opener as an oppourtunity to unveil their new alternate sweater to fans. “Alternate” is definitely the best way to describe the new green uniform. For the record, the Oil Kings defeated the Calgary Hitmen 7-3. Edmonton removed any trace of their usual red, blue, and white colour scheme. FULL STORY
Sep. 4, 2013: If there were a textbook to be written on hockey jerseys, the Buffalo Sabres would be featured in it. They may even get their own chapter. That chapter would be titled “What Not To Do”. What the Sabres revealed on Wednesday was the exact opposite of the perfection the Minnesota Wild showed off on Sunday. The best way to describe it? A mess! FULL STORY
Sep. 1, 2013: It is articles like this that make writing about hockey jerseys so much fun. That’s because early Sunday morning the Minnesota Wild revealed their new white road sweater ten hours ahead of schedule (intentional or not?). Their website Wild.com had an eight photo gallery of Zach Parise and Josh Harding wearing the new sweaters. The sweaters weren’t scheduled to be released until noon Eastern time on Sunday at the Minnesota State Fair. FULL STORY
Aug. 26, 2013: Calling what the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds revealed on Sunday a “new look” is certainly a stretch. However, that is one of the Twitter hashtags that was used by the team in the build up to the reveal. The “new look” is the classic uniforms of the Detroit Red Wings. Both the red and white uniforms are part of the new look, right down to the exact same style for the numbers. FULL STORY
Aug. 26, 2013: As you likely remember, the San Jose Sharks released their new home and road sweaters last Tuesday to mostly disappointing reviews. That included the review from yours truly. At HockeyJerseyConcepts.com artists send their hockey jersey designs in to me. When the Sharks’ uniforms were released, different ideas soon were sent to me by those artists. FULL STORY
Aug. 20, 2013: On Tuesday the San Jose Sharks revealed new home and road sweaters. Captain Joe Thornton, Brent Burns, Dan Boyle, and Brad Stuart were the models for the team. The Sharks revealed teaser images via their Instagram account on Monday which build some anticipation for the reveal today. Accompanying the jersey reveal was a micro-site complete with plenty of photos and video. FULL STORY
