Canes not even getting a shot registered on net until almost the twelve minute mark of the first period.

Pens give Canes a :44 five on three Sutter was sitting for tripping then Adams goes for a slash and the Hurricanes use it to their full advantage. Nathan Gerbe makes it one all.just as the PK subsides Maatta gets clipped with a high stick by Ruutu putting the Pens on the power play, Pens getting some nice chances but no goals on the power play.

Shots on net slowed a bit for the Penguins during the second period none the less the boys still had some good scoring chances. with just 3:36 left in the second Crosby gets a nice pass to Kunitz who puts it home past Peters making it two to one Penguins. Second period ends on that note, On a side note Chuck Kobasew went off the ice after taking a shot into the boards with his shoulder and did not come back out through the end of the second frame.

Just over twelve minutes into the third period WBS Penguins now Pittsburgh Penguins Jayson Megna gets his first NHL goal putting the Penguins up 3-1. Carolina battled on looking to catch up, with 1:23 left in regulation the Hurricanes pulled Peters giving the Canes the extra attacker trying to get something going but it wasn’t going to help.
