Wilkes-Barre Scranton - April 14, 2014 - It was fan appreciation night tonight at the WBS Penguins game as they took on the Toronto Marlies.

The WBS Penguins pulled out in front during the first few minutes of tonight’s game as Adam Payerl scored on the power play. The rest of the first period kind of flew by both sides getting chances Tomas Vokoun with a great save that could have evened this game up.

WBS ends up taking a late penalty Tom Kostopoulos went to the bin for elbowing putting the Pens down a man late in the first and giving Toronto a :58 second carry over power play to start the second frame as both sides headed for the dressing room WBS leading 1-0.

Irony that’s what happened in the beginning of the second period. Tom Kostopoulos was in te sin bin to begin the second comes out of the box and ends up scoring the Penguins second goal to make it a 2-0 game.

Again both sides getting some action near the net but WBS seeming to get more than Toronto out shooting them by the end of the period 19 to 8. Sill and LeBlond mixed it up a bit Farnham was also in the mix by the end of it all PL3 (LeBlond) got 4 minutes Farnham got a ten and Sill got five you can read all the penalties here. End of the second Pens lead 2-0. In between the second and third periods we had a visitor come to our section, it was nice to see him in our arena it was Spike the Wheeling Nailers mascot stopping to say hello to everyone tonight.

Third period action looked as if it was going to be a repeat of the first two but just past the eight minute mark Toronto hit the mark getting one past Vokoun making it just a one goal game with the Penguins still holding the lead. The Marlies started to gain some momentum and the Penguins needed to get back on the attack.

Toronto nailed it again just 39 seconds later making it two all and the Marlies with the m ojo now WBS went back on the attack looking to get the game winner but with just 26.6 seconds left in regulation the Marlies pulled the proverbial rabbit out of their hats and scored the game winning goal WBS went for broke off the faceoff but could not get the job done.

The Toronto Marlies would take tonight’s contest by a score of 3–2. Here are your highlights below.
