Megna & Chorney Push Penguins Past Bears 3-2 In OT

Wilkes-Barre Scranton - November 7, 2014 -

It was the WBS Penguins taking on the Hershey Bears tonight at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre,PA. Beau Bennett took the ice tonight for WBS he is down for conditioning, Bennett played but didn'[t tallie any goals but did get an assist on the Penguins OT goal

WBS penguins had two power play chances in the first period none of them were productive. The Penguins had a great chance early in the first but Grubauer shut them down.

By the end of the first period the Bears seemed to be gathering momentum out working the Penguins but the first ended 0-0 Pens out shooting the Bears 8-2.

Hershey carried the momentum they were gathering toward the end of the first period into the second frame scoring just 1:30 in as the WBS Penguins struggled to get the puck under control, Jon Landry got the credit and the Bears were on the boards 1-0.

WBS would seem to get things under control but the Bears would out work them again just ten minutes later and go up 2-0 on WBS as Casey Wellman would put one past Murray. That's how the second period would end WBS looking at a two point hole to climb out of and only 20 minutes to play in regulation.

The third period started out just as the second ended the Hershey Bears having the upper hand it just seemed like the WBS Penguins could not catch a break, had a few chances but nothing was going their way. I tweeted that WBS needs to find some magic here some type of spark and it happened, not long after the tweet Taylor Chorney tallied the Penguins first goal of the night cutting the Bears lead in half.

Ten minutes later what looked like another goal from Chorney but was later changed to Megna evened the score at 2 each and just 47.1 seconds left in regulation, needless to say tonight's game went into OT. Yes the New format of OT 4x4 hockey for 3 minutes then 3x3 hockey for 2 minutes.

It didn't take long just over a minute and I mean just over a minute 1:01 in Jayson Megna went on HTA not that it mattered OT is sudden death but, Megna scored a nice back post top shelf shot giving the Penguins the 3-2 OT win over the Hershey Bears
