Rust Helps Penguins Tame Sound Tigers

Wilkes-Barre Scranton - December 12, 2014 -

It was a penalty fest of a first period tonight in WBS as the Penguins took on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 7 penalties total for the first period not the most I have seen but still a good amount.

The WBS penguins would weather the storm killing all of the power plays they were giving the Sound Tigers. WBS would get their share of the power play action but would not sink the puck.

WBS would get on the board first just after the power play in a Barry Goers shot that looked as if it bounced but the goal went to Tom Kostopoulos making it one nothing WBS. That's where the first would end with 40 more minute of play to go.

Bridgeport would score during the second period as Jeff Zatkoff was layed out on the ice making it a 1-1 game. The WBS Penguins would answer back though scoring twice making it 3-1 WBS. Bryan Rust would get the Pens second goal making it 2-1, a little later Derick Pouliot would make it a 3-1 game with a nice top shelf wrist shot beating Kevin Poulin to the punch. End of the second period the WBS Penguins had a nice 3-1 lead.

Mike Halmo and Bobby Farnham would do a little dance at the end of the second period each drawing fight majors for the beginning of the third period. Bridgeport would give the Penguins several attempts on the power play during the third but WBS would come up empty. Bryan Rust would get his second of the night putting him on HTA and putting the Penguins up 4-1 deep into the third period making the edge just that much further away for the Sound Tigers.

That is how tonight's game would end the WBS Penguins beating the Bridgeport Sound Tigers with a final score the WBS Penguins 4 the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 1.
