Peterborough - August 9, 2013 - The Peterborough Petes Hockey Club announced today a new organizational structure in their business operations department.

The Petes are excited to welcome Burton Lee to the business operations staff. Burton will serve as Director of Communications and Game Night Operations, and will work to improve upon the Petes media relations and digital communication strategy while also enhancing the game night experience for fans and corporate partners.

Burton joins the Petes after working in sales and marketing roles with The Aspire Sports Marketing Group, the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club, and the 100th Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts Football Club. He also gained several years of event management and communications experience while holding various positions at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON.

“The Petes organization is one of the most highly regarded in the CHL,” said Lee. “I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to work both with and for some of the most well-educated and passionate hockey fans and media in Canada.”

Additionally, Matt D’Agostini will now hold the position of Community Events Coordinator and Marketing Assistant. Matt stood out in the Petes organization as a Season Ticket Sales Intern during the 2012-2013 season, and the Petes are very excited to welcome him to the team in a full-time capacity.

“I’m ecstatic to begin my professional working career here in Peterborough,” said D’Agostini. “It’s rewarding to reflect on all the hard work and dedication over the last eight months and see how tremendously it has paid off for me. I am very excited to get the upcoming season under way!”

Aaron Garfat will now serve as Director of Sales, Marketing and Advertising, and will shift his focus to corporate partnerships and ticket sales which will allow stronger relationships to be built with the Petes sponsors and fans. Director of Merchandise, Don Sharp, will continue to manage all merchandise and Petes Store operations while performing a wide array of other duties, and Cathie Webster will maintain her role as Office Administrator.

Garfat noted that “the addition of Burton and Matt to our team allows me to focus on the hockey club’s existing sponsorship, advertising and ticket sales initiatives while developing and implementing new programs in the future. I’m looking forward to working closely with our corporate partners and ticket holders."

“I’m excited about having Matt and Burton join our business team,” added Petes GM Mike Oke. “The team we’ve put together will be able to better serve our highly valued fans and corporate partners. We’re looking forward to making this year exciting for fans both off and on the ice.”
