The 2013-14 hockey season officially gets underway on Wednesday, August 21st, when Portland Winterhawks players report to training camp for fitness testing. Over 90 players will begin their testing, setting the stage for the annual intrasquad Neely Cup tournament on Thursday, August 22nd.

Portland - August 20, 2013 - Hockey season officially gets underway Wednesday when Winterhawks players report to training camp at the Moda Center for fitness testing. Over 90 players will begin their testing at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the arena floor.

The following day, the annual intrasquad Neely Cup tournament begins, an event which is free and open to the public. The tournament runs Thursday through Sunday.

This year the teams will be named after players from the previous four Winterhawks squads that made Memorial Cup appearances and who went on to play in the National Hockey League: Jeff Finley (1986 Memorial Cup team), Brenden Morrow (1998), Jim Playfair (1982 & 1983) and Mike Vernon (1982 & 1983).
