The 2013-14 Western Hockey League season is approaching as many WHL Clubs officially open training camps this week. Beginning Wednesday, August 21st , many WHL Clubs welcome players for registration, while on-ice sessions for 10 Clubs begin on Thursday, August 22nd By the weekend, almost all WHL Clubs will be on the ice in preparation for the 2013-14 WHL Regular Season.

Calgary - August 21, 2013 - The 2013-14 Western Hockey League season is approaching as many WHL Clubs officially open training camps this week.

Beginning Wednesday, August 21st , many WHL Clubs welcome players for registration, while on-ice sessions for 10 Clubs begin on Thursday, August 22nd By the weekend, almost all WHL Clubs will be on the ice in preparation for the 2013-14 WHL Regular Season, which begins on Thursday, September 19th with the Regina Pats playing host to the Swift Current Broncos in the stand-alone WHL season opening game.

The 2013 WHL Pre-Season begins on Tuesday, August 27th, with the Swift Current Broncos hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors in an All-Rookie game, and continues through Sunday, September 15th.

The 2013 WHL pre-season schedule again features four pre-season tournaments. The Everett Silvertips Pre-season Classic runs August 30 - September 1 and will feature all five U.S. Division Clubs, the host Everett Silvertips, Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds, Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans, and will also include this year, the Victoria Royals.

The Edmonton Oil Kings 7th Annual Pre-Season tournament begins Saturday, August 31 and features six WHL Clubs including the host Oil Kings, Calgary Hitmen, Medicine Hat Tigers, Prince George Cougars, Red Deer Rebels and Swift Current Broncos. The games will be played out of the Servus Credit Union Place in St. Albert, AB.

The Tri-City Americans Pre-Season Tournament will again feature all five U.S. Division Clubs; the host Americans, Everett Silvertips, Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds and the Spokane Chiefs. The tournament will also include the Kootenay Ice with games starting on September 7.

The Thunder Challenge Tournament hosted by the community of Crowsnest, Alberta, runs September 13 - 15 and features the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Kootenay Ice and Calgary Hitmen.
