The Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers will start the 2013-14 season with the team’s annual training camp from Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 at Compuware Arena in Plymouth. Plymouth - August 23, 2013 - The Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers will start the 2013-14 season with the team’s annual training camp from Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30 at Compuware Arena in Plymouth.

After several days of off-ice testing, getting fitted for equipment and finalizing schedules at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park, the Whalers hit the ice in scrimmages on Thurs. Aug. 29 and Fri. Aug. 30 from 9-11 am and 2-4 pm at Compuware Arena. The scrimmages are open to the public and media. Rosters will be provided the day of the scrimmage.

Plymouth plays its first pre-season game on Sat. Aug. 31 at 7 pm at Eddie Edgar Ice Arena in Livonia against Windsor in a game for charity. One hundred percent of the proceeds generated in the game benefit the Livonia Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Larry Nehasil Park in Livonia.

Eddie Edgar Arena is located at 33841 Lyndon in Livonia. Tickets run $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The Whalers complete a busy Labor Day weekend playing on Mon. Sept. 2 at 2 pm against Windsor at Windsor Family Credit Union Centre.

Plymouth finished 42-17-5-4 last season, winning its’ 12th West Division title over 23 seasons. The Whalers were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals by the OHL-Championship London Knights.

The Whalers have made the OHL playoffs 22 straight seasons – a current OHL record. Plymouth expects to remain in the hunt in 2013-14 in the ultra-competitive Western Conference race.
