Rockets slip past Blazers
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 on Friday night in Kelowna in the Rockets Western Hockey League pre-season opener. Tyson Baillie and Cole Linaker each had a goal and an assist while Henrik Nyberg and rookie Ryan Donaldson also scored for the Rockets, who led 2-1 after one and 4-2 after two periods en route to the win.

Kelowna - August 31, 2013 - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 on Friday night in Kelowna in the Rockets Western Hockey League pre-season opener.

Tyson Baillie and Cole Linaker each had a goal and an assist while Henrik Nyberg and rookie Ryan Donaldson also scored for the Rockets, who led 2-1 after one and 4-2 after two periods en route to the win.

Kamloops markers came from Jordan Thomson, Mitch Lipon and Aspen Sterzer.

It was the first of four WHL exhibition games the Rockets will play and the first of two at Prospera Place.

Kelowna will play in Vancouver against the Giants on Saturday night before meeting the Blazers in Kamloops on Sept. 6 and hosting the Vancouver Giants on Sept. 7, another fundraiser with two dollars from each ticket going to Cops for Kids.

The Rockets open the WHL regular season with a home and home with Kamloops Sept. 20 and 21. The two teams meet in Kamloops before the Rockets home opener on Sept. 21.
