Lethbridge - August 31, 2013 - Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager, Brad Robson announced at the end of Training Camp Saturday, that the hockey club signed their 1st round pick from the 2013 Bantam Draft, Stuart Skinner to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

At 6’3 ½ and 193 pounds Stuart Skinner,“is the type of player that will be a franchise goalie” commented GM Brad Robson and that is one reason the Hurricanes drafted him in the first round.

It’s been a whirlwind of a summer for the Edmonton, AB native. Not only was he among 35 players shortlisted for Team Alberta at the 2013 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup, but he was one of 42 Bantam aged players to attend the 3rd annual NHLPA All-Canadians Mentorship Camp.

Robson added “Skinner had a very good camp in Mississauga, Ontario, but his playing experience also includes two Western Championship final games where he’s won once and he’s the top goalie in Western Canada.”

Skinner played with SSAC of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League this past season where he was 18-1-2 with a .929 Save Percentage, 1.75 GAA with 4 shutouts. With SSAC he was named Top Goaltender and was named to the first All-Star team. He was also named AMBHL Most Outstanding and All-Star Goaltender.
