Belleville - September 3, 2013 - It's been a busy past week of signings and additions to their depth chart for the Belleville Bulls as they announce another commitment on Tuesday. Bulls Head Coach & General Manager George Burnett announced that 2013 fifth round draft pick Maurizio Colella has committed to the club and will begin his season with the Tier II affiliate Wellington Dukes Jr. A club.

Colella had an impressive Training Camp after spending last season with the York-Simcoe Express Minor Midgets. The left-winger had 15 goals and 14 assists in 33 games to become the Bulls' fifth round (86th) overall selection this spring. The 5 foot 11, 179Ibs. native of Tottenham is excited to get going, "This is a great opportunity for me to go to Wellington and show what I can do. It's a big season for them with the Dudley Hewitt Cup tournament coming this way and I'd like to make a contribution," said the smiling Colella.

Colella is the eighth new player to commit the the Bulls' program this summer and Head Coach Burnett is looking forward to seeing him play this season, "Maurizio has had a terrific few months of development and has grown since we selected him this spring. He was one of our big surprises at Training Camp and performed very well in the opportunities he was given."

Colella skated in the OHL Gold Cup this spring at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, scoring 2 goals and an assist in 5 games for Team OMHA Black. He also attended the final Ontario Under 17 Evaluation Camp in Oshawa last month. "Maurizio had a very good Under 17 camp," Burnett continued. "His hard work has earned him an opportunity and he will begin his season with our Tier II affiliate in Wellington. We anticipate things will be positive there and we expect to see him contribute in a Bulls uniform as early as this season."

Colella will wear #27 with the Dukes this season and joins the club on Thursday, September 12th when they open their season in Kingston against the Voyageurs. The Dukes' home opener is set for Friday, September 20th against Georgetown at the Essroc Arena.
