Edmonton - September 17, 2013 - Edmonton Oil Kings star Curtis Lazar signed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators Tuesday.

"Well Curtis is a first round pick and obviously a player and prospect that we think has a good upside. We're trying to get our best players tied up and he is certainly one of the guys of the future in this organization so we're very, very happy to get him signed at this point," said Ottawa General Manager Bryan Murray.

Lazar was drafted 17th overall by the Senators this June after leading the Oil Kings with 38 goals in the 2013-14 season. In 141 career WHL games, Lazar has 58 goals and 35 assists.

“Very exciting day, honoured and proud to sign with the @Senators couldn’t have done it without my family, friends, coaches, teammates #thankyou,” tweeted Lazar Tuesday.
