Spits Edge Rangers on late Povorozniouk goal
Sam Povorozniouk scored with just 12 seconds left in the third period, giving the Windsor Spitfires a dramatic 2-1 win over the Kitchener Rangers Saturday night at the WFCU Centre. In just his second game in Windsor (19-10-1-0), the 18-year-old winger took a Ben Johnson pass and ripped it by Jordan DeKort, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Windsor - December 8, 2013 - Sam Povorozniouk scored with just 12 seconds left in the third period, giving the Windsor Spitfires a dramatic 2-1 win over the Kitchener Rangers Saturday night at the WFCU Centre.

In just his second game in Windsor (19-10-1-0), the 18-year-old winger took a Ben Johnson pass and ripped it by Jordan DeKort, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Brady Vail opened the scoring for the Spitfires midway through the opening frame, giving the Spits a lead they held until Brent Pederson scored to tie things up, breaking Alex Fotinos' (34 saves) shutout bid.

Eric Diodati chipped in with a pair of assists in the win.

The victory gave the Spits five of a possible six points for the weekend, making it five games in regulation without a loss.

The Spitfires are back in action when the host the Peterborough Petes Thursday night.
