Owen Sound - April 5, 2014 - The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that with their first pick, 8th overall in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, they have selected defenseman Victor Mete (Met-eh) from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the GTHL.

Mete, a 5’08, 157lb rearguard is widely considered the best offensive defenseman available in the Priority Selection and tallied 12 goals and 18 assists in 33 games played last season with the Jr. Canadiens.

“Firstly, we’d like to welcome Victor and his family into the Attack organization.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “Victor is a high-end defenseman that has the potential to be one of the top rearguards in the Ontario Hockey League. It was our position that we wanted to take the best player available and for us, that was Victor Mete.”

OHL Central Scouting describes Mete as an, “offensive defensemen that has great offensive skills and instincts. He is not a big player by any means but he uses his quickness and skating ability to help him gain advantages on both the defensive and offensive side of the puck. Victor finds a way to get the puck to the net. His skating ability is his biggest asset. He has great mobility and can beat a forechecker with his skating. Victor is a undersized defensemen that will be able to step into our league and contribute next year.”

The Attack wish to welcome Victor, along with his parents Joseph and Mary into the Attack organization.

Owen Sound will now pick 32nd and 39th in the 2nd Round.
