Ho-Sang and Doggett score twice in win over Spirit
Josh Ho-Sang scored two breakaway goals in his first game of the season, including the game winner, as the Windsor Spitfires outlasted the Saginaw Spirit, 8-5, at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.

Windsor - October 17, 2014 - Josh Ho-Sang scored two breakaway goals in his first game of the season, including the game winner, as the Windsor Spitfires outlasted the Saginaw Spirit, 8-5, at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.

Slater Doggett also had his first two goals the season, while Chris Marchese (6), Mark Manchurek (3), Trevor Murphy (1) and Logan Brown (3) chipped in singles.

Windsor (3-4-0-0) wasted little time getting on the board, as Marchese elected to shoot on a 2-on-1 with Brown, scoring his team-leading sixth of the season on the game's first shift.

Manchurek and Doggett each capitalized on Saginaw turnovers, putting the home side up 3-0 with the game barely six minutes old.

Winnipeg Jets prospect Jimmy Lodge pulled the visitors within two, potting his fourth of the year, before Murphy answered back at 18:06, giving the Spits a 4-1 cushion after 20 minutes.

The second period was all Spirit. Artem Artemov scored a pair of goals (2,3) and Brandon Prophet added his first of the season, tying the game at 4-4.

Ho-Sang went to work in the third, beating two Spirit defenders and finishing with a picture-perfect backhand to put the Spits back on top at 1:21.

After the Spirit countered (Dylan Sadowy, 6:02) to tie the game again, Ho-Sang busted in on another breakaway, missing the net but catching a fortuitous bounce off the back-boards and Spirit goalie Jake Paterson (37 saves) to put the Spits ahead for good, at 6-5.

Doggett sealed the deal at 14:22 with a hard-fought rebound effort for his second of the game. Brown iced it with an empty-netter at 18:59.

The Spitfires will take their scoring binge to the road this weekend, with stops in Barrie on Saturday and Owen Sound on Sunday.
