Edmonton - Apr. 13, 2014: In the grand scheme of things, last night’s 5-2 win over the visiting Vancouver Canuck was nothing more than another meaningless season ending victory for the Edmonton Oilers but it was one hell of a special night for Ryan Smyth and his legions of fans across Oil Country and will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most touching moments in franchise history FULL STORY

Edmonton - Feb. 5, 2014: Here is today's look at the playoff odds updated after last nights near perfect evening as far as the Winnipeg Jets are concerned. I say near perfect only because Minnesota won. Everyone else who mattered lost with the exception of Dallas, but someone had to win that game with Phoenix. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Jan. 28, 2014: While much of the hype following the Edmonton Oilers surprising 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks has revolved around a hat-trick performance from forward David Perron, he was not the star of the show during Monday night’s victory. As good as the Oilers #57 was, and he was good, netminder Ilya Bryzgalov was even better. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Jan. 22, 2014: Zack Kassian became public enemy number one in the minds of many an Edmonton Oilers fan the moment he “accidentally” broke Sam Gagner’s jaw during a pre-season game at Rexall Place. Since then the Oilers have faced the Vancouver Canucks on three separate occasions and after last night’s 2-1 loss, they have not only lost all three of those games but have yet to respond, in any real fashion, to the 22 year olds sticking swinging ways. Edmonton - Dec. 14, 2013: While last night’s 4-0 result against the Vancouver Canucks may not have been what fans of the Edmonton Oilers were hoping for, at this stage of the game, the result is truly irrelevant. From here on in, it has nothing to do with wins and losses and everything to do with the word Oilers fans have heard for far too many years…progress. It may only be mid-December but the time to sink or swim has arrived. FULL STORY

Buffalo - Oct. 18, 2013: The Buffalo Sabres mailed in yet another listless effort on home ice, allowing 28 shots through two periods and watching the Vancouver Canucks skate away with a 3-0 win. The Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek trade rumors are going to keep rolling along. They're going to command plenty of attention up until the deadline, I hope you're ready. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Oct. 6, 2013: From the standpoint of a single game going as bad as one could imagine, last night's 6-2 pounding at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks was about as bad as it could get for the Edmonton Oilers. Starting with another poor performance from netminder Devan Dubnyk and finishing with what was arguably the worst game of Taylor Hall's NHL career, Edmonton were never really in this one. Edmonton - Sep. 25, 2013: The line of Mark Arcobello, Jordan Eberle and David Perron combined for seven points, in leading Edmonton to a 5-3 victory over the visiting New York Rangers. After Tuesday night's win, the Oilers trimmed their roster by four sending the trio of Taylor Fedun, Anton Lander and Tyler Pitlick to the OKC Barons of the AHL. They also sent 2013 1st round pick Darnell Nurse back to the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Sep. 22, 2013: The Edmonton Oilers picked up their 3rd victory of the preseason, beating the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 in Saturday night NHL exhibition action. David Perron continued to impress with another two point effort, while Anton Belov made his long-awaited debut in Oilers silks. Former Lethbridge Hurricanes netminder Ty Rimmer was rock solid his NHL debut, stopping 10 of the 11 shots he faced. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Sep. 19, 2013: On the strength of a four goal first period outburst and a superb performance from 2013 seventh overall pick Darnell Nurse, the Edmonton Oilers played the role of spoiler on Wednesday night, downing the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 4-1 and ruining the return of Roberto Luongo to the Canucks crease. Jordan Eberle led the charge upfront, with a 3 point night, as Edmonton improved to 2-1-1 in the preseason. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Aug. 23, 2013: For well over a year, Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis was convinced he would be able to move veteran netminder Roberto Luongo in an actual hockey trade. After finally coming to the realization that not such trade was forthcoming, Gillis finally came to senses and moved Cory Schneider instead. Unfortunately for the Canucks and their fans, the return won't help in the here and now but you can bet on Luongo returning to form in 2013-14. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Jul. 26, 2013: When the NHL officially unveiled their realignment plans for the 2013-14 season, the Edmonton Oilers looked as though they would be staring at a fairly daunting task to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Not exactly what a team who has failed to reach the post season for seven consecutive years wanted to hear but perhaps playing in the "new" Pacific Division, won't be as difficult as many of the so-called experts believe. Cornwall - Jul. 21, 2013: There is a brand new team gearing up for the 2013-2014 American Hockey League season and that team is the Utica Comets. Back in March, Canucks Sports and Entertainment bought out the Peoria Rivermen and was looking to move a farm team for Vancouver closer to home. Looking at Abbotsford to rival the Heat, the brass seemed keen on that location. FULL STORY

Edmonton - Jun. 30, 2013: On the eve of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and with no end in sight to the Roberto Luongo Saga, Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis made it known he would finally consider taking offers for Cory Schneider. Edmonton Oilers GM Craig MacTavish would definitely have interest in Schneider but a trade involving the two division rivals, would be highly unlikely. FULL STORY
